Gratitudes

In early February a couple of things transpired to lead me in the direction of writing gratitudes to our newly elected President of the United States.

  1.  I found a bunch of Thank You cards that my sweetheart has had for a very long time (something from a previous relationship that I was ready to get out of the house!).
  2.  I listened to this On Being podcast interview with Sharon Salzberg and Robert Thurman called Meeting Our Enemies and Our Suffering.  They talk about loving our enemies as a Buddhist practice and it is one of the hardest things we can do.
  3.   I was searching for a way to be more involved, while staying true to my idea of living a deliberate, thoughtful and caring life.  

All of these things came to me around the same time and for some reason the idea of sending Donald Trump gratitudes seemed appropriate for me.  I have decided to send them daily and am working deliberately to make them not pokey and come from a place of heart felt love.  I have found this easier some days then others.  Here is the first of many.  I will try to post them often.  I plan on continuing to send them……
